As a mom, wife, and educator, I come at this question from 3 very distinct perspectives. But I want to focus in one the one that is the reason I got out of teaching.
In the future, I would like to see a regrounding of children. Yep, let’s get back to the dirt, sand, mud and water of our soles and souls. In my dreamworld, somehow AI implodes on itself and our zombie children suddenly find themselves staring up instead of down.
How undeniably archaic and precious does that sound? If you are a mom, dad, or you are just plain human, you see the value in this! The simplicity of looking into another human’s eyes with the intent of connection is a lost gift. When you have no other choice except to turn to one another for everything?! Well now, that is just doggone marvelous.
Marveling at the outgrown shell of a cicada on a tree, delighting at the coolness of sea-tossed sand between our toes, or slurping at an ice-cold watermelon quarter. We need to all reground ourselves with what is important and TikTok shop ain’t gonna cut it.
We are starved for touch, for molecules and atoms like our own. We are not starved for social media, even if they can make you believe you are! Lies!
AI should stand for Aggressive Influence or Aggravated Influx, but Intelligence?! Human intelligence comes from life, but if humans are no longer experiencing living, then isn’t our intelligence also artificial?
My brain hurts.
Take your shoes off and let those tender white tootsies experience the earth. Your sole will appreciate a little grounding.
